On Friday, August 7, Wayfarer welcomes Mama's Black Sheep, Sweet Leda, and Colleen Clark for an evening that will travel through country, rock, soul, blues, funk, and everything in between. These artists bring more than exceptional talent to the stage. They bring stories, energy, honesty, and the kind of chemistry that can turn a live performance into a shared experience.
Mama's Black Sheep: Honey-and-Whiskey Harmonies
For more than 15 years, Mama's Black Sheep has been blending musical styles and crafting unforgettable songs. Their performances move effortlessly from country to rock, groove through soul, and settle into the blues, combining hit-worthy original music with familiar covers given a distinctive new spin.
Music That Moves the Body and Soul
Whether the moment calls for dancing, listening, laughing, or reflecting, their music offers something that stirs both body and soul.
Ashland's versatile guitar work and Laura's innovative percussion create a signature sound built around two remarkable voices. Their harmonies meet like honey and whiskey: warm, smooth, strong, and impossible to forget.
Songs of Life, Love and Empowerment
Through songs about life, love, resilience, and empowerment, Mama's Black Sheep encourages audiences to live honestly, boldly, and beyond the boundaries others may try to set for them.
Sweet Leda: A Red-Hot Blend of Funk, Soul, Blues and Rock
Sweet Leda knows how to get a party started.
The band brings an undeniably contagious energy that moves from the stage into the room, often led by front-woman Julie Cymek, whose live performances are every bit as physical and fearless as her voice.
A Powerful Voice and Contagious Stage Presence
Cymek's deep, blues-driven wail is familiar yet completely her own, carrying the rhythmic soul of Mary J. Blige alongside the raw rock-and-roll fire of Janis Joplin. She can move from smooth and sultry to jumping and bumping without ever losing the groove.
New-School Funk Meets Old-School Blues
Blending new-school funk and soul with old-school blues and rock, Sweet Leda creates a musical stew so red-hot that you can feel the flavor from the very first lick.
Colleen Clark: Musician, Producer and Recording Engineer
Originally from Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Colleen Clark brings an extraordinary combination of musical instinct, technical knowledge, and live-performance experience to the stage.
A Deep Foundation in Music and Audio Science
Colleen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Music Theory from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Arts in Audio Science from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. She studied guitar with Don Savoie and drum kit with Billy "Stix" Nicks.
Years of Experience on the Stage and in the Studio
Colleen most recently performed on guitar with Christine Havrilla & Gypsy Fuzz. Her past performance credits also include Mama's Black Sheep, Red Letter Day, the Zen Monkeys, Wicked Jezabel, and SONIA disappear fear.
Beyond the stage, Colleen has worked as a producer and recording engineer on a wide range of projects, including two full-length albums of her own original music.
One Stage. Three Powerful Performances.
This is a night for listeners who appreciate musicians who can play, singers who can move a room, and songs that carry both rhythm and meaning.
Come ready to groove, dance, listen closely, and experience three distinctive musical forces sharing one stage.
