Farro & Friends Bring Two Nights of Pure Musical Magic to Wayfarer Appalachia

There are some nights of live music that feel planned, polished, and performed. And then some nights feel alive.

On July 17th and July 18th, Wayfarer Appalachia will welcome Farro & Friends for two unforgettable nights of music in the heart of historic Main Street Tazewell, Virginia. The weekend begins with an intimate evening in The Velvet Room on July 17th, followed by a Saturday night gathering in the Crossroads Saloon on July 18th that promises the kind of musical magic Wayfarer is quickly becoming known for.

This is not just another concert. This is a gathering of seasoned musicians, songwriters, storytellers, and performers who understand what happens when talent, chemistry, and a room full of people come together.

Michael Ferro: Soul, Story, and a Voice You Remember

At the center of Farro & Friends is Michael Ferro, a singer-songwriter, pianist, and soul singer whose rich vocal tone has drawn comparisons to Michael McDonald, Van Morrison, and Chris Stapleton.

With more than 40 years of professional performances, Michael's music career has carried him across the United States and Europe. His journey includes opening for Barry White on the 1995 European Icon Tour, singing with Branford Marsalis' band during shows in Germany, and opening for the Gin Blossoms.

That kind of musical history does not just create a performer. It creates a presence.

Michael brings the kind of voice that fills a room without forcing it. His sound carries soul, warmth, experience, and a depth that comes only from years of living inside the music.

Charlie Young and the Sound of Lived-In Songs

Joining Michael is longtime musical partner Charlie Young, whose songwriting and musical chemistry have helped shape the sound and story of their work together.

Charlie began writing tunes and performing alongside Michael, bringing a natural sense of connection, honesty, and musicianship to the stage. Their songs carry the feel of lived experience, rooted in real stories, real places, and the kind of friendship that can be heard in every note.

Together, Michael Ferro and Charlie Young have recorded in the legendary musical town of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, carrying forward that same spirit of Southern soul, authenticity, and timeless storytelling.

They are also founders of the Bamboo Chicken Festival in Belize, a celebration of music, culture, food, and community. That spirit follows them wherever they play: music as a gathering place, music as connection, music as something meant to be shared.

Saturday Night in the Crossroads Saloon: One Stage, Five Remarkable Musicians

On Saturday, July 18th, Farro & Friends will take over the Crossroads Saloon for a night that promises to be something special.

Alongside Michael Ferro and Charlie Young, the evening will feature Conrad Olsen, a respected Texas singer-songwriter and guitarist known throughout the Texas music community for his love of Americana and Texas country. Conrad is especially celebrated for his performances honoring the songs of legendary songwriter Guy Clark, bringing a deep respect for storytelling and songcraft to the stage.

Also joining the lineup are Lenny Beckett and Gary Dillon, two outstanding musicians whose talent, stage presence, and love for live performance complete an all-star night of music.

This is not five separate performances.

This is five incredible musicians sharing one stage, feeding off each other's energy, trading songs, swapping solos, and creating the kind of musical moments that can never be rehearsed and never be repeated.

That is what makes live music powerful.

It is not only the songs. It is what happens between the songs. The glances, the rhythm, the surprise, the laughter, the harmony, and the moment when everyone in the room realizes they are hearing something that will only happen once.

Two Nights, Two Rooms, One Weekend of Music

Wayfarer Appalachia was built for nights like this.

The Velvet Room offers the kind of intimate setting where songs and stories can settle in close. It is the perfect space for an evening of soul, songwriting, and real-deal musicianship on July 17th

The Crossroads Saloon brings the energy up for Saturday night, creating the perfect backdrop for Farro & Friends to stretch out, trade songs, and bring the room into the music on July 18th.

Whether you are a fan of Americana, country, blues, Southern soul, singer-songwriter music, or simply great live performance, this is the kind of weekend that reminds us why music matters.

It brings people together.
It turns a room into a memory.
It gives a small town a big sound.
