Formed by a collaboration of seasoned artists, the band draws on deep roots in traditional bluegrass history and legendary acts. Its members have performed with major names and groups such as Alison Krauss & Union Station, The Osborne Brothers, Lonesome River Band, Rhonda Vincent & the Rage, and many others, bringing their mastery and reverence for the music into every performance.
Their sound blends classic bluegrass influences—from the driving banjo style reminiscent of JD Crowe to the rhythmic pulse of Jimmy Martin and the iconic tenor breaks of Bill Monroe—into a fresh yet timeless expression that honors tradition while pushing the genre forward.
In 2025, Southern Legacy signed with Pinecastle Records and released their highly anticipated debut single “The Hills of Carter County,” a powerful ballad combining heartfelt storytelling with signature bluegrass instrumentation and vocal harmonies.
